What Can I Expect At a Sunflower Festival?

Start autumn frolicking in a sunflower field — literally — at the Sunflower Festival. With over a million expected blooms throughout the season, get whisked away into a whimsical fall fantasy. Cornbelly's Sunflower Festival is here to add a golden hue to your fall palette.

The Sunflower Festival is not merely another fall activity; it's a celebration of the season, a feast for the senses, and a day of unforgettable family fun.

It’s sunflower season at Cornbelly’s! Now in its third year, the festival continues to bring new activities and things to discover.

Timing Is Everything

First things first, timing is everything. The Sunflower Festival is open on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays from September 8th to 30th. Clear your schedule, grab the family and your camera, and plan for a fun-filled day among the sunflower fields.

What Can I Expect At a Sunflower Festival?

The Sunflower Field: A Sea of Gold

As you enter the festival, prepare to be greeted by a sunflower field that stretches over 15 acres. With an expected million sunflowers blooming throughout the season, the fields will always be awash in sunflower petals' yellow, orange, and gold, no matter when you come during the event.

The fields feature 10 different varieties of sunflowers. You'll feel like you've stepped into a Van Gogh painting. While posing as a breathtaking view, the field is more than simply a sight to behold. It's an experience that engages all the senses. Feel the texture of the sunflower leaves, smell the earthy aroma, and listen to the buzz of bees doing their important work.

Sunflowers aren’t the only thing to celebrate at the festival.

Activities Galore: More Than Flowers

Cornbelly's Sunflower Festival is a fall activity hub with something for everyone. Some of our favorite activities include:

  • Locomotive Train: Choo-choo! Hop on the brand-new locomotive train and take a scenic tour around the sunflower field.
  • Free Amusement Rides: From spinning teacups to mini roller coasters, the festival offers rides that will thrill kids and adults alike.
  • Ropes Course: For adventurous souls, the ropes course is a must-try. Navigate through a series of obstacles suspended in the air — talk about an adrenaline rush!
  • Jumbo Jumper Air Pillows: Bounce your worries away on these gigantic air pillows. It's like a trampoline, but better!
  • Hay Rides: What's a fall activity without a classic hayride? Sit back, relax, and enjoy a leisurely ride around the event.
  • Bee Train: All aboard the Bee Train! This adorable train ride is perfect for the little ones and offers a fun, educational experience about the importance of bees in pollination.
  • Farm Golf: Start practicing your putt. This mini-golf course is full of fall-themed holes.

Plus, there’s a variety of play equipment, arcade-style games, a corn maze, and more.

Picnic in the Petals

One of the festival's highlights is the "Picnic in the Petals" event. Come sit among the sunflowers with a provided picnic.

Sponsored by Kneaders Bakery and Cafe, this special event occurs on Saturday, September 16, at 1:15 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. Each ticket includes:

  • Free Sunflower Bloom: You get a free, single sunflower bloom from the u-pick patch to take home with you.
  • Fairy Tales with the Sunflower Fairy: Listen to enchanting tales from the Sunflower Fairy while dining on your sandwiches.
  • Photo Opportunities: Capture the magic by taking advantage of the photo ops with a unicorn and the fairies.
  • Kneaders Picnic: Enjoy a meal provided by Kneaders. The meal includes a choice of sandwich (ham, turkey, or roast beef), chips, fruit, a drink, and a fresh-made Cornbelly's donut.

The event is designed to be a feast for the senses. The sunflower fairy's storytelling session adds a magical narrative layer to the experience, making it enchanting for both children and adults.
The photo opportunities with unicorns and fairies offer a whimsical element that elevates the picnic from a simple meal to a memorable event. This attention to detail—culinary and experiential—sets "Picnic in the Petals" apart as a highlight of the Cornbelly's Sunflower Festival.

Admission to the festival is not included and should be purchased separately in addition to the Picnic in the Petals event ticket. This event is open to all ages and has no restrictions. It's a perfect way to enjoy a meal amidst the beauty of the sunflower field.

Fall-Favorite Treats

Don’t forget to grab a treat while you’re here. With everything there is to do, you're bound to get hungry. Fill tummies with some of Cornbelly’s favorite treats:

  • Fresh-Made Donuts: Bite into a warm, sugary donut that melts in your mouth.
  • Hand-Dipped Buttermilk Corn Dogs: A festival isn't complete without corn dogs, and these are the perfect addition to a day among the sunflowers.
  • Kettle Corn: A sweet and salty treat that really makes it feel like fall is here.
  • Cider Slushies: Wash down whatever treat you get with a refreshing cider slushie.

Capture the Moment

Bringing your camera or smartphone is a must! The sunflower field provides the perfect backdrop for Instagram-worthy photos. Whether it's a selfie amidst the sunflowers or a candid shot of your kids frolicking in the field, you'll want to capture these moments.
